Keto - a very low-carb, high-fat diet. Yeah guys low carb, which basically means no pasta, bread, doughnuts, fries (so everything good in this world).

So on a spur of the moment decision 2 weeks ago I decided to try out this fad that we hear so much about, the keto diet. Hearing about this diet people usually have 1 out of 2 things to say about it, either A. It is awful for you, or B. This thing saved my life. I've heard them both even more through the short course of trying this out and have somewhat came to my own conclusion. For 2 weeks I went by the macros (energy-giving components of food that fuels our body) of 70% fats (125 grams), 20% protein (75 grams), and 5% carbs (20 grams). 70% fats, I know, it's a ton! Or at least it seemed that way while I drowned most of my food in sour cream trying to get all 125 grams in. That would be what I think was my hardest part, reaching my goal in fats and keeping under my goal for carbs. Guys in case you didn't know carbs are in almost everything, it's basically impossible to stray from them entirely, that salad you ate for lunch yesterday? Yeah probably 20 carbs alone. That piece of fruit? 12 carbs. These are things that I did not know until I stumbled across this diet and I can definitely say I look at food a different way now even after a short 2 weeks. While doing this diet I continued my moderate to intense workout sessions 4-5 times a week which of course helped my results in a long run and sadly I cannot speak for anyone who does this diet without working out because to me personally I used all of those additional fats I was eating to get myself through that workout since my body burned them rather than carbs. And guys I also had cheat meals/snacks. I guess I am not a strict diet kind of person because there came moments where I did not have willpower, but no regrets treat yo'self.

There really is so much I could say about this diet but I am gonna keep it short for this post so if anyone has any other questions feel free to ask me. Overall I do feel like after 2 weeks I am more toned than I was before. I'm sure if I went on a carb bender that flat stomach would be no more but for now it is all good. I noticed some days I did feel a little sick which I'm sure was my body being confused from the lack of carbohydrates but I also noticed days where I felt like I had more energy. However just like I mentioned before, I did cheat some and I don't believe my body ever entered Ketosis, but coming out of these 2 weeks although I do not plan to continue the Keto diet to it's entirety, I do plan on keeping similar macros to the ones of this diet.

And by the way guys, this diet did not limit my food options that much! Like I wasn't stuck eating salads everyday, there actually is a ton of Keto recipes out there that are really good! I'll put some pictures and links to recipes below that I ate during the diet. So if you feel like giving it a whirl, then go for it. Everyone's body reacts differently , but it always is a little interesting to mix it up and try new things!

- Meals at home were easy and super fun, especially ones like my new favorite, bell pepper nachos (insert drooling emoji). Sauteed Chicken with veggies was a go to and salads were super easy for lunches on the go. And of course I became addicted to omelettes filled with bell peppers and cheese with bacon and fruit (this was a daily indulgence).

Also for those super busy days lunch on the go was still manageable with things like a grilled chicken sandwich with no bun or even chicken breast and Greek yogurt.

Snacks were a little boring but they made do, not pictured is all the sugar free jello I ate (my favorite snack hands down). But sunflower seeds, dark chocolate, string cheese, these were all pretty good snacks that I was allowed to have on the diet.

As for coffee, yes I still drank it of course. I just stuck to minimum cream and no sugar and it hit the spot for sure. Seeing as how this was a short trial process I didn't go through ordering things like Keto coffee but I would've loved to try it!
